MS Gong Ride Finish!
Not even a late start and being caught behind the 0630 starters was enough to keep me from a record time and personal best of 2 hrs 42 mins.
Avg. speed was 31 kmh (max 67 kmh). Avg. cadence 81 rpm (max 115 rpm). Avg. heartrate 160 bpm (max 176 bpm).
Two 90 second energy and hydration replenishment stops were made at Waterfall and Bald Hill. Roctane ultra endurance energy gel provided fuel to help meet the total calories of 1,729 kcal / 7,234 kj. Hydration was met by Gatorade.
Total performance training time @ 80-100% of max HR: 1 hr 52 mins.
50km Inner City Loop
Great start to the morning commencing with the ANZAC Bridge and brekky in Balmain. Then into the City over the Pyrmont Bridge and up the King St Cycleway . Through Hyde Park for a glimpse of Art and About then up Oxford St and into Centennial Park for 5 laps (ca. 20km) of average 32 kph.
Lunch in Potts Point then a test of the bike’s torsional stiffness with a fast descent and switchback into Woolloomooloo. A gentle climb and lap of the Yurong Precinct, through Martin Place then down to The Rocks for a banana smoothie refuel before returning home to Pyrmont.
